For Glen and Joya Baker, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect for a life-changing opportunity such as Quixtar to come into their lives. They were in a desperate situation financially and the stress was beginning to wear heavily on them.
On the surface, they looked like they had it all. An all-American couple, doing what everyone else was also doing – working; Joya as a dental hygienist and Glen in insurance sales, living above their means, leasing cars and vacationing every weekend. They did all the fun things like hanging out at Newport Beach, water skiing, jet skiing, snow skiing at Mammoth, golfing at Palm Desert and always dreaming big but never really thinking they’d have that lifestyle and a lot more.
Behind the scenes, they were borrowing money from their parents to pay off their debts, vowing never to repeat this situation, only to accumulate more debt again. They came home from vacation once to learn that the IRS had frozen their bank account, Joya’s wages were frozen too and they had a lien on their home. Like many people today, they just didn’t realize they were in that much trouble and they definitely didn’t know how to get out of the mess they were in.
When a friend of Glen’s from high school contacted them about an opportunity and was persistent in meeting with them, they immediately went to a seminar to learn more and Joya says that weekend changed their lives. They chose to believe it would work for them too if they applied themselves and learned as they progressed. They made building their business a high priority and looked at it like it was a profitable, productive business from the very beginning. This attitude of theirs was contagious and very quickly their business began to grow. Their belief right from the first was that they could do phenomenally well and they set out to prove it – to themselves, to everyone that joined them, and even those who didn’t believe they could be successful. Everything positive and negative that occurred motivated them.
They tremendously enjoy their time with their two teenage children – Trevor and Summer. But even more importantly, Glen and Joya know that their kids have developed character and an attitude for success and leadership. They’ve grown up around great examples and consider their parents their friends. They love doing stuff with their parents as often as possible.
Glen and Joya are very frank in sharing that they might not still be together if not for what they've learned from the WorldWide Group and the mentorship they’ve received. Every aspect of their lives has been improved and made better. They were given an opportunity to change their own lives and now are instrumental in helping many others do the same. All the junk has been cleared out of their lives so they can focus on accentuating the positive. They dedicate their lives to helping others free themselves up and do the same.
Many nights when Glen arrived home late at night and all the houses in his neighborhood were dark, he would remind himself that as long as he was willing to do what other people are not willing to do, he would have what they would never have and live the way the would never live. People ask when they managed to create this lifestyle and they smile, knowing they became successful while others were sleeping. Their purpose now is to be of service to others in achieving everything they have been blessed with and even more!
